Reward (Ship) logbook, 1805-1807.

The logbook of the ship Reward details a shipping voyage from Newburyport, Mass., to Bristol and Falmouth, England; Livorno (Leghorn) and Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Malta; and Norfolk, Va., May 1805-April 1807. The ship's home port was Newburyport; the owner was Edmund Kimball; the master was John Moulton; the logbook keeper was Nathan Daland. The logbook includes episodes of alcoholism and punishment among the merchant mariners on board; accounts; and a description of capture at sea. During its voyage, the Reward spoke the ships Arno (out of Boston), Iris (out of Salem), and Herculus; the brigs Dispatch (out of Boston), Venus (out of Salem), and Sirene, and the sloop Laura.
